Statuario
The rarest and most valuable of the Carrara whites — a brilliant white ground with bold, sparse grey veining. Michelangelo’s stone.
Statuario comes from a small number of upper Carrara quarries and has been prized since antiquity — it is the marble Michelangelo chose, and the reputation is not marketing. The ground is a genuinely brilliant white, warmer and more luminous than Bianco Carrara, and the veining is sparse and confident: a few bold grey or charcoal strokes rather than an even wash.
That scarcity has consequences you should plan for. Yield per block is lower, matched quantities are hard to guarantee, and prices move with what the quarries release. If a project needs bookmatched Statuario across a whole floor, the material has to be reserved as a block, not sourced slab by slab afterwards.
This is a stone worth inspecting personally, and buyers regularly do. If Statuario is on your specification, talk to us early — availability, not price, is usually the binding constraint.
